 What is Power Hour?

POWER HOUR
Power Hour (PH) is an intervention program to help prevent students from failing or getting too far behind. Students are referred to PH by their teacher, principal, counselor or parent. This will be our sixth year with this program and it has proven to be very successful. PH is utilized by 50% of the student body. Both teachers and parents appreciate the extra support this program has given them in order to help their child succeed in school. Each student will go to the PH room to study or work on assignments and then get ample time to eat their lunch.
Benefits of being in Power Hour:
· A quiet space to complete work
· Help from certificated teachers, student teachers and teacher aides
· Students can retrieve missing assignments
· Teachers become aware of students efforts to catch up
· Supplies available for students
· A way for students and parents to keep track before grades come out
· A chance to up their grade to prevent failing
· PH has both a CORE (History, Science, English) room and a MATH room
Your child's success in school is very important to us. We appreciate your help and support by encouraging them to attend PH in order to improve their grade. The BJHS staff wants ALL students to be successful and encourage them to get this help we are offering to prevent them from falling behind. Once they have completed their missing assignments or raised their grade up they will be released from PH.
